Seong Chon

Originally from South Korea, Seong Chon (b.1964) is an artist primarily working across painting, graphic media, and photography since 2008 at Momentum Creative Studios in California. Seong creates art daily, featuring landscapes, animals, and occasionally people, choosing to work alone and in silence as it helps him to concentrate. His work features bright colors and lots of texture. When painting and drawing, Seong uses an adaptive device attached to his right foot to create marks on the paper with brushes or pencils. This is true as well for his digital work on Photoshop, where he controls a joystick with his foot to add textures and colors onto images, he finds through an AI image generator. Seong’s photography work of landscapes and people has a focus on cities and buildings, with a particular angle used from the base of his wheelchair. His processes require much strength from his whole body, but he is dedicated to his practice, making alterations where needed to allow for his independence. 

Seong loves to see his art exhibited, it brings him a sense of joy, and he likes to get feedback. His work has been exhibited in a two-person exhibition titled Legends Past and Present (2016), at Washington Reid Gallery. He has also been part of a group exhibition titled LA Art Show (2018), at the Convention Center in Los Angeles, and in several exhibitions organized by Momentum Creative Studios.
