Jonna Wilkins
Jonna Wilkins (b.1967), a multimedia artist based in Mar Vista California, attended Momentum Creative Studios when she was a child, returning to the Studios in 2015. Jonna is inspired by and makes art about nature, and the beauty of nature, always trying to connect to it on a spiritual level. Often working in acrylic or watercolor paint on paper, and sometimes combining the two materials, she occasionally uses acrylic paint pens. She wants her artwork to remind people to slow down, look at their surroundings, and to take a moment to appreciate it.
Jonna likes to take photographs of nature with a macro lens, as she feels it is a precise way of viewing objects and it helps focus people’s attention on particular subjects. She designs artwork that has been 3D printed, including boats that were used to create a rocky mountain and river scene. More recently, Jonna has been using ProCreate to create digital drawings and collages.
Jonna is an online art class instructor at Momentum Creative Studios, listening to music with other artists as inspiration, being sure that everyone shares their work at the end, and has time for discussion. Her work has been included in several group exhibitions across the years at The Washington Reid Gallery, which was part of Momentum Creative Studios, including Things We Lost in the Fire (2022), and Collective Voice (2019). She was also involved with the Creativity Unlimited film (2020), sharing her practice and interviewing other artists from ECF Art Center.
