Vital Dimensions
Curatorial Statement | Vital Dimensions
Vital Dimensions investigates human collaboration with the natural world: This includes our embodied response to the COVID-19 lockdown, our memories and experiences of place, and our reactions to the limitations placed on us during the pandemic. The works within demonstrate the impressionistic nature of memory, questions of macro and micro environments, and colorful, often frenetic explorations of self.
Much of the work revisits memories of nature and imagines the artists’ place within the world as a collective experience. Others are reflections of emotional states, made manifest through spontaneous acts of creation.
Enduring a time of remote experiences, Vital Dimensions illustrates moments of isolation, longed-for social scenes, as well as the relationship between place and identity within our natural environment.
