Renzo Centeno
O
Originally from Peru, Renzo Centeno (b.1991) is a multi-media abstract painter who has been attending Momentum Creative Studios in California since 2013. Space, colour, light, and gestural marks always feature in his work, with colored markers, pastels, and acrylic paints being his mediums of choice. Most comfortable in a reclined position in his wheelchair, Centeno uses personalized adapted art tools to control the different mediums and marks made. His marks come in quick, powerful, and short bursts, with much intention behind every mark. Some have a soothing, calm feeling, whilst others are an eruption of energy and sometimes agitation. Centeno’s final artworks are patiently built up over periods of time, often taking a month to complete an abstract painting.
Centeno’s work has been featured in several yearly versions of the Blank Canvas exhibition since 2012 at The Washington Reid Gallery, which was part of Momentum Creative Studios, as well as other group exhibitions held there. Also external group exhibitions including Exploring Quarantine that were held online during the Pandemic, and in Leylies Boutique (2019) in Brentwood California.
